This prayer from Timothy Keller is so beautiful I wanted to share it with you! He touches on all the ways we look for life or meaning apart from God, and God’s great love for us, even still.
You can listen to this sermon (and his prayer at the end) on his podcast, called Gospel In Life, Episode 455: The Grace of Law.
After You Listen
- This prayer lists some of the ways people are struggling to live the truth the God has given us. It says, “Some of us are desperately hoping that you don’t exist. Some of us are desperately hoping that you do, and that because we live such good lives you’ll take us to Heaven. Some of us are working so hard because we don’t believe we’re valuable. Some of us are ready to kill ourselves because a relationship has just died; because we just down deep don’t believe you love us.” If you wrote a “some of us” statement that reflected your heart today, what would it say?
- This prayer mentions that Jesus has gone before us. What do you think it means? What comfort does it give you to know that Jesus has gone before?
