My Top Dating Advice, Based On Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations

March 2, 2021, 2 Comments

Click below to listen to this post about dating on the Candidly Kendra Podcast:

The Bible doesn’t give us a lot of dating advice. If only Jesus had given his disciples a lesson on the shores of Galilee, telling them what to look for in a spouse, where to find that person, where to take them on a first date, and how not to get hurt!

But instead he gave us his Word and His Holy Spirit, and the spiritual discernment to decide how to follow Him in our modern era of dating.

It’s not easy, but it is possible!

You see, God’s Word shows us that above all else, God desires a relationship with us. He wants us to know him, to trust him, and to follow him. And it follows that he wants us to hitch our wagon (so to speak) to someone who will encourage us and build us up to that purpose.

Are you dating someone right now? Can you honestly say that they are taking you where you should go, spirtually?

Watch the video above to see more about this!

I guess I AM one of “those readers” because I love classics! (Long story.) GREAT EXPECTATIONS has a lot of other quotes that go with the good one you picked. Here’s the one that sticks in my head: “All other swindlers upon earth are nothing to the self-swindlers, and with such pretences [sic] did I cheat myself.”

Yes, I loved that one! I think we all swindle ourselves – with dating, and often in the rest of life, too! Which classic is your very favorite, Mary?
