Sometimes I discover that I’ve been looking all the wrong places to fulfill my deepest longings. I forget that God has meant for me to find satisfaction in him instead.
When I long for significance, I look to the idols of popularity. But God says, “Beloved, you are my own bride.”
When I long for security, I look to the idols of control. But God says, “Daughter, rest. Trust me.”
When I long for peace, I look to the idols of comfort. But God says, “My peace I leave with you. I don’t give the world’s peace, but my own. So take a breath. Be still.”
Lord, let me look to you and your heavenly gifts instead of grasping for junk food to feed my cravings.
